Australian number plates continue to fetch high prices at auction
NSW number plate ‘6′ sells earlier this year at an auction in Australia for a staggering sum.
The prices being paid for rare single digit car number plates in New South Wales - Australia continue to rocket. At a Bonhams & Goodmans collectors’ car auction last month, the right to display ‘NSW 6′ sold for a breathtaking figure.
The figure is said to be close to the $1 million estimate. This figure has unofficially broken the previously held record of $680,000 which was set when Bonhams sold ‘NSW 2′ back in 2003.
Robert Glover from Bonhams said that since the Australian RTA had released several single digit plates in 1983, their value has risen by about 40% annually.
