There is some discussion as to what RSS stands for, but most people plump for ‘Really Simple Syndication’. In essence, the feeds themselves are just web pages designed to be read by computers.
How do I start using feeds?
In general, the first thing you need is something called a news reader. This is a piece of software that checks the feeds and lets you read any new articles that have been published or added. There are many different versions, some of which are accessed using a browser, and some of which are downloadable applications.
The ‘FREE’ F T Reg toolbar with built in RSS notifier
Browser based news readers let you catch up with your RSS feed subscriptions from any computer, whereas downloadable applications let you store them on your main computer, in the same way that you either download your email using Outlook or keep it on a web based service like Hotmail.
The easiest and safest, hassle free way to receive RSS feeds from our website site is by downloading the totally FREE ‘F T REG’ toolbar.
Our free toolbar has RSS alerts ‘built in’ to the toolbar. This means that you can be surfing away on the interent at your leisure and without having to go elsewhere, you will be informed LIVE by the RSS icon on the toolbar as and when we have new feeds available.
When new RSS feeds show on the toolbar, you have the option to scroll the menu to see what the topics are about, and then if you want to see the article simply click on it or carry on surfing.
